I am considering buying a 1994 f150 crew cab 4x4. I want to put a lift and run 35"tires. My question is is there a certain suspension kit that you all prefer for a better ride? I'm thinking about going with a 5.5" superflex kit from JBG, but I don't have any experience with this suspension. Also should I stick with the independant front or go ahead and do a SAS or f250 front swap? How will it handle the 35's? I'm trying to build a good hunting wagon but want something that still drives good.
Sorry for all the questions, but I haven't owned this gen of pickup before. I'm used to the 70's broncos and f150s.
Well, you are probably going to get a lot of the usual "the search function is your friend" replies. But, I have a '97F250HD CC with a 4" Superlift kit and I run 35's. I am not reccomending Superlift, but, I am not saying to stay away from it either. I also have the SuperRunner steering system. I would do the SAS when possible, but, it is not neccessary. The truck tracks and steers (with the aftermarket system) great. I am on the lookout for a D60 SA though and that will be the next project/upgrade.
Thanks for the info. Thats a NICE truck too. I will probably do a SAS in the future if I go to 37's. I just want a smooth riding suspension for when I'm driving through pastures and on rough roads and I can't find anyone that runs the superflex suspension.
my plan(that didnt work out) was to get oversized fenders and run 35s on stock suspension. You dont get the suspension travel but your ride quality will be the same as stock. You can run 32s, some run 33s stock so an oversized fender would take care of it. There are less extreme versions but this front is a 6" flare and oversized opening, the rear is a 3" flare and oversized opening.
Front fenders run $300 for the pair and i think rear are about the same. These entire bedsizes run $500.
This one is probably my favorite for just a driver. These are still bed sides so you would need to do some work to get them to work out on a full bed.
You could also think about cutting fenders and running the bushwacker flares.
