Hey guys, kinda random here but has anyone ever seen an electric turbo?? I found one on ebay. I wonder if it works well?? If I didn't have a turbo on already, I would buy that for 29 bucks and see if it did any thing.
Id be worried about it being a restriction and if the exhaust is stock id doubt you would see anything. If you had ideal conditions with the exhaust and a intake like mine, you might fetch something but what? who knows? If i had the spare cash id put one on my minivan but not the truck.
A leaf blower would do better. How many PSI of boost can you build when you turn your heater or a/c on high? That's all it is. Squirrel cage fan. Won't do darn thing. Keep the money and go get some taco bell.. you'll get just as much of a boost

hook the intake up to the cabin, then fill up on bean burritto's.
An hour later, Taco Bell might actually give you more power boost than the electric turbo once the methane starts flowing.

Short answer no, long answer noooooo! Why do these keep popping up in forums? If you want to prove otherwise spend the $$ and put the 12v turbo on a dyno.

Well He77... Not doing anything else so her is my two cents...In theory, yes it could help..but only when you aren't going very fast..in this case..Remember how engines work here on earth...Since engines don't really suck anything into themselves..ever..it can help by speeding up the natural flow of the atmosphere into the cylinder that has nothing on the top side of the piston but the cylinder head when the piston is at top dead cylinder..When the piston moves down in the cylinder an area of little or no atmospheric pressure just shows up..Since we live in on a planet that has, basically, 14.5 psi of air pressure,I know unless you are no top of a mountain, that 14.5 psi of air fills in that area that showed up on top of the piston..Hence, naturally aspirated... Now smoke grinders push more air in an intake then the natural baro pressure does and any pressure above atmospheric pressure becomes, our buddy, boost pressure. You are boosting the atmosphere. What is good about exhaust driven smoke grinders is that they can speed up or slow down depending the temp of the exhaust air..The more fuel means more heat and that means more boost because of the ole hot air expands faster then cold air which makes it "spool up"..More fuel= more heat=more boost..............In the case of this electric fan it won't change unless you have some kind of thermistor that will be able to control the voltage to the fan and speed it up when the exhaust temp gets higher...Allot of trouble for this little guy.....Like the other guys, I think you be better off to pitch the belt driven vacuum pump, go to the junk yard and get you a big soup can off of a 70's model gasser and install an electric vacuum pump..Then go to Taco Bell..
WELL! Theroetically yes it could work, IF you had a three inch exhaust and they sold a model of the electric turbo that actually would fit on the 6.9 or 7.3 XD I checked and thier turbo is too small to fit on the engine LOL!!!
