Best Hood Tilt Kit?
#17
if you mean the rods from the cab to the valence..
yes.. these are required to maintain the font clip alignment..
if you mean the support rods ON the hood, both kits replace these so that they will connect to the new front pivot.

Hood Tilt kits - Any updates???
Now that it's nearly 2015....Have there been any good updates to the hood tilt kits offered for 53-56 F100's?
Seems as most of the feedback is from 4+ years ago.
I'm looking to do a hood tilt on a '54 F100.
Can anyone give me some insight as to what they consider to be the best hood tilt system being made now?
Has anyone found a great fix to the cowl windlace getting torn up?
Pics are always appreciated

No Limit Hood tilt - New or Old??
Thanks Wayne.
I've read a couple of things about the No Limit tilt and maybe you can give me your experience.
1) Hard to align
2) Jumps off guide when opening/closing
Now I have also read that they had an old one & a "newer" one...but can't get any clarification on any difference between the two.
In concept I think theirs looks pretty clean (except for the fact that they carved their brand name so prominently into it. Thank goodness everybody doesn't do that).
Are you able to open/close by yourself or is it a two person job?

If I can align it, anybody can.
It has never jumped off the rollers
I open and close it alone. I carefully from the drivers side, lower the hood making sure it lines up on the rollers. I then move to the front and gently let it drop back into place, and then give it a firm downward push in front to latch.
Being a bit dyslectic myself I had to reread the part about which way to turn adjustments to move hood forward or backward repeatedly until I got it right.
I don't have much memory left so I can't tell you step by step what all I did.
CharlieLed seem to have it about right in another thread about this same subject.

I also have the No Limit kit. IMO, yes it was hard to align. I spent the better part of a month screwing with it before I was happy with the alignment. Ended up taking the front fenders off and dropping them down about an inch to get the fender alignment right. Second, yes I have had it jump off the guide when closing. Chipped the paint on the passenger fender.
I can close it by myself, not a problem.
If I had it to do over, I wouldn't.
I can't comment on the CCP kit personally, but I've talked to some other owners who liked it and and fewer problems than I seemed to have had with the No Limit.

There are pros and cons to both styles...the MMB/CCP only has a roller on the hood side which is clean. That said, it has a curved rod assembly that is bolted to the fender that I find to be "in the way" when servicing the engine. The No Limit kit has a bracket that bolts to the hood and a roller assembly that bolts to the factory hinge mounts on the firewall. The firewall mount keeps the assembly up out of the way AND it hides the original hinge bolt holes.
I suggest that you look at both on various trucks and see which works best for you...as for my experience, truck owners will defend whichever system they own. I have yet to run into a truck owner that says that they regret buying the tilt kit that they have on their truck.
