Hey guys my truck has been sitting with out a starter so I put one in and when I turn the key to start it and the starter makes a clunk but if I try to start off the silanoid it turns over fine I'm lost were should I be looking thanks

I think you just answered your own question. If it starts by jumping\bypassing the solenoid, that is your issue. The "clunk", I believe is from the solenoid, that tells me the primary wiring to the solenoid is correct. The solenoid is not connecting the voltage/current to the starter from the battery. I'd replace the solenoid, and your battery cables probably need replacing as well due to age.
Hey guys riderman its the starter clunking when I turn key if I try the key 3.or more times it starts fine then I turn it off and try again and clunk
I've had this problem mulitipule times with my dents. Take some needle nose pliers and crimp the postive connection a bit. So its hard to get on. that should fix it. if not just spend the 14 dollars at advance auto parts for a new solienoid. also look at were the postive wire and the starter wire bolt to it. is it rusty or corrorded? take some sand paper to it if it is.
