I have a question about frames on 2010 f-150. Sorry if its a little off topic but this was the closest i found on this forum. I have a Damaged frame on a 2010 f-150 with a 5.5 box bed. So the wheel base is 144.5". Im wondering if i could replace it with a frame from a 2010 super cab with 6.5 box bed. Wheelbase is also 144.5 but would it work or is the lower part of the frame where the cab sits configured different. Moving a couple cab and box bed mounts wouldn't bother me.
Sorry to dig out this old threat, but everything is changing and i guess this topic deserves an update!
Back in the day, as can be read in this awesome threat with many very informative posts, the Chassis cabs differed very much in fram thickness.
Nowadays however the boxed part of any Ford HD is much bigger and made out of 50.000psi steele. So i am wondering if this bigger (and longer) boxed section is now always the same and only the rear end changed, or if the boxed front part is still made out of much thicker steel parts?
Hm no one here who knows about this? I guess it should be visible, since the new boxed front end from the F-2/350 trucks would be much bigger but also much thinner.
Back in the day it seemed to be a 7x5x3x0.32 boxed front, might just be the same today made out of 50k steele.
