I had about 70 miles left on my drive back to school, I was climbing I80 into the Sierra Nevada's. I was in a pack of about 4 cars and we all were doing about 75 and all of a sudden as i'm turning this corner at 75 i hear a loud BANG! and the Ex starts to squirm sideways. I immediately shifted out of overdrive and used a combo of light braking and engine breaking to get her on the side of the road. Here are some pictures of the carnage it looks like the tire punched a hole in the gold trim and also bent the rear quarter panel. i havent gotten an estimate on repairs im guessing im going to need a new rear quarter panel.
Glad to hear that you maintained control and stopped safely!
What does the tread depth measure? Any idea if the tread seperated prior to the blow out, or after?
Looks like new tire time.

It was getting low but they still had a decent amount of tread. This is my second set of BFG A/T KO and the first set the tire went out of round and I believe that's what happened to this one.
were those retreads ? they look like they have a tread left and shouldn't have done that....
What brand tire ? Maybe they will help out on the damage ?
on second look, does look like they have many miles on them... whew !
Nope, not retreads but it was about time for new tires. I thought about contacting Bfg but I doubt they would do anything. I'm glad she's parking right now with a dented in quarter panel rather than on her side on the freeway.
Bfg's Customer service line is 800-231-5842... if you maintain your service records and reciepts you should call them. it is definately worth it, i work at a wholesale dist. center and BFG takes care of loyal customers. They probably wont cover the repairs on the truck but will most likely give you some credit towards replacement of the tires.
What is the date on the tire? It will typically be a 12 digit code - the last 4 will be the date. For example - 0410 would be 4th week of 2010 is when it was manufactured. If you have records showing all rotations then you may stand a chance of getting some credit towards the next set of tires. They will be looking for rotations every 6k miles and they will be able to tell if proper inflation and alignment was done while the tires were in use.

Problem is i dont unfortunately but from this point on im staying away from BFG due to my personal experience with them. Next tires i just ordered are the Kelly Safari TSR
