I wonder why the tires blew out? that is kind of odd for the BFGs given they're so "durable."
I had a set on my truck and I don't believe I'll buy 'em again since they traction was not worth the price, nor was the longevity, and I had nothing but problems out of them. Granted, I put 40K miles trouble free on there.
We've had goodyears do this to use all the time before we switched. Just the rubber coming off was enough to tear up our 2x6" built platforms pretty well. A healthy 2x6" treated pine board would pretty much explode when the tires let go.
Any ideas in how to make a claim for this? Is this kind of incident something that makes your insurance go up?
If you take it back to where you bought them (or a store in the same chain) they can typically look you up and depending up the warranty on the tire may give you a pro-rated replacement - their computer
will have the date, mileage and typically even the VIN # of
the vehicle you put them on
I've had this happen with several tires over the years when
they had holes in the sidewall. The worse they can say is "no".
Plus if you are going to get 4 new tires installed/balanced/aligned
they can give you a break as well.
I wonder how long those Kelly Safari TSRs will last/how well the sidewalls hold up? They look like they got some good meats on em
I got the Kelly TSR's ( 315's ) on my truck this past summer and I love them. They have just enough of an aggressive look and very little road noise considering the thread size. So far they have worn without any issue and am actually going in to get them rotated this weekend I think you'll really like them !
by the way great save on that blowout -- defintitly should be getting BFG to reimburse you on ALL 4 of those tires !
Nice save, sorry to hear about the damage, Bro....let me know how you like the TSRs, I've been thinking of getting these for my X, but am concerned about the wandering with such an aggressive tread.
I have to say, with what we drive up here, The only thing I have found to last is Cooper Discoverer ATR or M+S 10 ply (Only too cooper models I have tried). I won't even even consider buying a tire at wall-mart again, and even the BFG Mud Kings gave me problems with going flat.
