With AE, you can watch "Exhaust Back Pressure" and "Manifold Guage Pressure" (boost). My normal numbers are about 20PSI of boost to about 50PSI of back pressure with the red line unplugged. If you're getting low numbers with the wastegate unplugged, then it's boost-related. But you need to be able to watch things like fuel pressure to really be able to tell what's up... no scan tool will read that because there's no sensor anywhere on the truck for it!
