took the plastic cell out of the bed and now putting a tank in between the frame rails, here is my progress so far...
old tank.
new tank
filler door hole cut... measured about 12 times before actually cutting.
here is a close up of the cap, the center just pushes in with the gas nozzle, so no need to unscrew the cap
fit the tank in.
good clean look.
Now I have to take off the mounting points on the tank and fit them to the frame, and move them down to lift the tank higher in the frame. I was told it should be a direct bolt in,you know how that goes....
If anyone else is in the process I hope this will help, or if you have have already done one I am open to any ideas or suggestions.
Been a long time since the last update, not much spare time to play in the garage lately.
So the tank is mounted, wired, plumbed, and ready for gas. here is what I did yesterday.
Finished removing the old bedliner, cleaned and taped off.
Trying out this Gator Guard from Eastwood.
New bedliner brushed on and drying......
Just have to button up a few things and on to the interior upgrade.
Description says it fits up to 56 but with a little mods to the mounting brackets it fit good in my 61.
Thanks
Kory
Thanks Kory. You should tell/show them what you did to get it to fit your '61 so that they can make them for slicks to work off the shelf. I would significantly increase their market.
