Port Into Air Cleaner

Port Into Air Cleaner
I am getting my truck into running shape again after it had been sitting for 4+ years. I took off the Edelbrock Air Cleaner and put the stock one on for emissions. However, there is a port into the front of air cleaner. I cannot remember what it is for. I cannot find any vacuum hoses or breathers that go into this port.
The truck is a 1977 F-100 2WD with a 302 Three Speed. California "71"
Does this just get blocked off, or am I missing something? I cannot find a diagram in my Haynes or Chilton that tells me what it is for. Any ideas?

My 77 has the air cleaner off a 75 F100 w/ 302 and there is some sensor there with 2 wires that ran to the front of the motor coming from that spot. It's not CA so maybe that's different. Not much help for you. I've been trying to figure out how the charcoal cannister attaches to the aircleaner for mine. Is that the hole just behind the snorkel?

Thanks for the help!!! There shouldn't be much difference, hopefully. It has been so long since I have worked on this truck (it sat at my parents ranch for 4+ years) and I just cannot remember, or figure out, what goes there.

Thanks for verifying for me. The first hole sensor had the wires burned in a small engine fire. I still have the sensor part in that hole, but it doesn't do anything. My mechanic friend said that the 2 sensors on the front of the engine weren't needed so I never had them hooked up. One was held in place by a valve cover bolt and the other on the intake somewhere. Sorry I'm not more help.
