On the way to work today my fuel filter light kept coming on. I found that it was coming on under load. The truck has sat since Thursday and it is 9 degrees out. Also the filter has few miles on it a couple years but very few miles. Any help would be great. Oh also the truck ran the same.
Diesel Kleen in the white bottle is what I use during winter months. The fuel you buy in the winter should already have anti gel added, but I don't take the chance.
My light came on Saturday morning when I was on the highway. Same thing as you described, when it was floored, it came on, when I let off the pedal, light went out. I figured it was the fuel gelling a little bit. After running through the engine for a bit, the fuel must have warmed up as I didn't see the light anymore, and it didn't come on for the trip home.
I have a bottle of Diesel Kleen, but as of yet haven't used any. Probably time I put some in.
If you can locate premium fuel. This should/would solve the problem. Low cost #2 fuel in the winter might not have the winter additive needed or not as much as needed for this extreme cold. 0 to 10 deg lately going to work at 5 am.
my truck i drive to work is a duramax.yes duramax but supplied by company any way it froze up on me a week ago pulled the filter off dumped the fuel out and as it warmed up water came out if you havent cracked your drain in filter in awhile might not be a bad idea.
