going to sell my flathead6 just wondering how much they a bring. it run good and has 4 speed that gos with it but 2 gear has chip on cog and makes a noise. just trying to see what to ask for it thanks
Flat sixes aren't worth a lot. If you read the recent post I am sure you'll know why. I have the six with the four speed in my F-2 and the truck is a real slug. That is what came in the truck and I wanted to keep it the same as when I was a kid and tooled around with my dad pulling cars with it. I have been given sixes to just get rid of them. The four speed is another thing that is not very desireable. If you can find someone looking for one and yours runs good I would say you might be able to get about $100 for the whole setup. It all depends if you can find the right person at the right time.
I wouldn't consider the flat six junk, just not very valuable to the majority of old Ford enthusiasts. There are still guys out there, including me, that would take it off of your hands for free or a small price. If I lived near you I would take it, I feel you can never have too many spare parts. I wouldn't scrap it right away, I'm sure there is someone out there that has a flat six and wouldn't mind having a spare. Even if you gave it away it would be helping out a buddy in the truck hobby. Not everyone in this hobby wants the fastest, shiniest most chromed out old truck. In my case my F-2 is pretty much what it was like when I tooled around with my dad when I was kid, flat six and non-sycro four speed. I like my truck the way it was and the sounds that setup makes brings back many memories.
Enough of my droning. Just thought I'd add another of my two cents.
