i have a 1980 f-150 4x4 with the 4.9l. i want to put a header on it but the price is too expensive. the header for the 2wd is cheaper than the one for the 4wd. the price is to much for the 4wd. does anyone know where i can get a 4wd header for cheap but new. i need better flow, more power and to fix the manafold. its bad. but is the 2wd diff. cause i have looked at one and it looks exactly the same. is there a diff. please inform me
thanks chris
well i only want a single exaust. thats all i can afford at the time being. i have the stock manafold with a 2.25 in pipe running to a flowmaster. no cats and it ends right after the flowmaster, right at the beggining of the bed.

Adding the EFI manifolds is rather simple bolt on, if you have an aftermarket intake, if you don't have an aftermarket intake, then you'll have to do a little grinding to fit them.
Most junkyards have these, find a pair that have no visible cracks or anything, and while you are there grab the downpipe.
On most trucks from the factory, the separate duals came out into a single pipe that ran all the way back.
Much cheaper than headers, factory peices, and they provide just about as much flow.
A wet compression test is putting some oil in the cylinder before running the test like normal. 2wd and 4wd headers should be the same on 80-later 300's. Both frames are the same.
I have a 79 f-150 4x4 w/ the 300 I6. What is involved in making the conversion from my stock exhaust manifold to the EFI dual exhaust manifolds? What years will match? Thanks guys, as I've said before, this site kicks @$$.
HA! Small world, I live in Fruitport township. But right now I am serving in the US Marine Corps and I am stationed in Okinawa Japan. If you lived in Muskegon sometime during the past 20 years you probably saw my truck prowling the streets before I bought it of course. I've proudly owned her for 6 years now. What part were you from?
my dad lives in wolf lake, right next to the elemntary school. i was born there but moved down to missouri when my parents split up, but i spend summers up there. what's the truck look like?
I know where that's at! My truck... It's bright red regular cab/long bed. It has a white toolbox in the back, a black grill guard with 2 off road lights and 2 foglights mounted in it. I have a lightbar on top with 5 more off road lights on it. I'm running 31x10.5 Electra Ironman tires mounted on Whitespoke wheels. It sits high in the rear because I installed add-a- leafs which lifted it approximately 2.5 inches. When I get home from Japan I want to raise the front so it sits level.
