Yeah she looks pretty clean for a 19 year old. I will probably be taking leave sometime in June or July of 2004. But I leave Japan in January 2004. When I get home I plan to install a 2 inch suspension lift on her so I can run 33s. I eventually want to have her professionally repainted. I could go on for days about the rest of the things I want to add. An old truck is never done!
More than likely I will be down there fishing with my buddies, you'll probably see my truck parked at the boat launch. And not only that but my Dad has a friend who lives on Wolf Lake too. You can't miss it, It sticks out like a sore thumb with all those lights on top! I never have to worry about losing it in big parking lots! HaHa! Will you have your truck up there by any chance?
I'm in the same boat with my '82 Bronco. I looked for a long time before finding a set of Hooker super comps in Jegs for around $300. The collector flanges (sold in twos) are another $20. Clifford performance has a set for under $300 but I've had no success getting them to respond to e-mail (it's ONLY been a week - maybe I should try snail-mail!) They do have some great pictures of them there (Cliffordperformance.com)
yeah i'll have a truck up there, but it won't be getting driven around. since this is my summer before college, me and him are gonna fix up a truck that ibring up there, haven't decided yet if it will be one i have now or maybe something older. but you might see us cruising around with him on a big loud harley and me on a kawasaki ninja, or in the mustang he is restoring.
They say 2wd drive only, but comparing a 2wd and 4wd drive truck side by side I can see no reason why they don't fit the 4wd. Maybe someone out there knows.....
FWIW, I don't think there's much price difference between changing to headers or EFI manifolds. I went from the EFI manifolds to headers and have never regretted it a bit. Well, maybe a little bit when my starter went out. Around here the EFi manifolds are going for $100/pair at the boneyard and it costs $20-30 more to have exhaust built to meet the manifolds. My headers came with the collector adaptors.
My Hooker Supercomps are for either 2wd or 4wd, and if they were a couple inches longer, it would hit the tranny crossmember. My truck is 4wd but i'm not sure if the 2wd crossmember is different.
Jegs has the super comps for $320. (plus ?$ for the flange). The spec sheet says they have a 2-1/2" collector - do yours?. That would be sweet 'cause I already have 2-1/2" exhaust from there back. Where would I go for the coating you recommended? I'm just about convinced that the Hookers would be the easiest/ best move.
Clifford finally replied, "You can run 53-0016 with fittings but our best header is the 53-0960 without fittings" (that was the complete response). I'll have to go to their site and try to sort out what this means...and how much they cost (initially, I found a price of $279). There are NO specs - which is what I had requested, and no weber carb info. at all.
Go with Hedmans, they're cheap, well built(flange is the same thickness as the stock flange) and, they fit both 2wd and 4wd for 80-86... I ran my 82 both ways....
Evan
The Hooker is a 1-5/8 primary, 30-something (32 inch maybe?) long with dual 2.5" slip-fit collectors. Clearly thats far too big to be running on a street motor so i'll be necking it down to a pair of 2-1/4 inch then down to a pair of 2" a bit farther down the system. 2x2" is equivalent to a 2-7/8" pipe. The Heddmans are cheaper so i'd go with them if I were you. I got mine used so it wasn't too difficult of a decision. (wanna see something crazy? racesearch.com used to list 'em for like $550 uncoated and like $800 coated, hahahahah)
