I acquired a C6 out of a 68 LTD and I'm wondering if the tailshaft is the correct length. I want to put it in the 74 F250 I have to change it back to the auto it used to be...currently has a 4 speed but the column is still auto. My truck is 4wd. The tail housing measures 15 inches. Is a car C6 the same as a 2wd truck? I'm assuming I would need a 2wd trans since my t case is divorced.
Thanks
some are some aren't depends on car...most truck c-6s have a mounted flange while the 2wds use a slip yoke...its still doable so long as you don't mind refabing the intermediate driveline...I've done it on a couple other trucks cause the truck trans are so hard to find...2 things to check, total lenght of trans v/clearence between rear of trans and t-case and trans mount location due to some cars mounts being further back.///.
This is a divorced 4x4 C6. Pretty short tail on it. If your car C6 will fit in there keep in mind the shifter won't work, you will need the 4x4 one to get the factory column shifter hooked up and there will be no place for the 4x4 shift lever to bolt to.
Wow what a difference. I may want rethink this car C6. Id rather use the one that belonged in it. Thanks for the pic I didnt know they had that short of a tail on them.
