I would pull against the DuraMax any day at any time up any hill at normal operating altitudes, say below 5000 feet. I am still waiting for someone to refute the facts about the high altitude vs lower altitude PUT.com results that I posted over at Rvnet. No one has come forward and I know why. They can not find any opposing facts. Even the guys at PUT.com have acknowledged that had they turned off the traction control the Ford would have been the fastest in their original shootout, with the 390/735 truck. Ford won their 4wd 16% uphill pull with the 390/535 truck. Just the facts, and only the facts.
I did post Shane's link to the sales story over at Rvnet. It did not take long for my fan club to show up.
Yes, I responded to that nonsense too. How much credibility can you assign to a video that admits at the beginning they can not get the Ford into 4wd and then runs them anyway. I will bet they pulled the fuse so the ESOF would not operate. The Chevy rep also make a statement about the Chevy "having class leading power". There is no reference to which Ford they ran. Do you think if it was the 400/800 they "beat" , they would keep that quiet. I have said this before, not one all brand shootout has been completed with a 400/800 Ford. You do not see Chevy asking for any rematches even though they lost the 4wd PUT.com shootout on their own 16% hill. I do know that the "Rumble" had the 400/800 truck.
OK... I now see Rick's rebuttal. It's weak with some assumptions, but it's a rebuttal non the less. I new when Fords' latest video's comparing the 2010 PS and Duramax only contained fuel mileage comparisons and non of the up hill tow's with an 18 wheeler coming at you it was for a reason. I believe that reason is being demonstrated by Chevy!

They are a devoted bunch...not too smart...but devoted
I purposely posted the Diesel Power magazine thread so I could get my point out there and then watch them try to bait me back into the fray. One of them finally figured out I was not biting and said so...
While I would like to assume altitude effects here, I do not think it made much difference. Field altitude at Calgary International Airport is 3577 feet above MSL. Not high enough to limit the Ford's turbo. There are too many other anomalies there to worry about the altitude.

Here is my rebuttal Troy refers to. I gave them the Cliff's notes version as they already know the truth. If my facts are so weak, someone, please anyone, post ones that prove mine false. So far, with a large group of fans, no responses. Ford will not challenge the "Rumble". They made their engineering choice and it does not make as much power as the Chevy above 8000 feet. They have beat the Chevy at lower altitudes. I rest my case.

Well, if I ever get in a really big hurry to pull a tractor down an airport runway, I'll get a Chevy.
No Cummins?
I guess neither competitor was willing to face the champ . . .
They said the Dodge was there but the video only shows the Ford and the Chevy. I guess you will have to talk to Chevy, it's their commercial. Have you noticed they did not invite Dodge to a similar party they were having? This is no different than the Mike Rowe Ford commercials, except the drivers in Mike's test could actually operate the truck. You have to wonder about a test conducted with people who do not know how to put the truck in 4wd. After Chevy gets beat on their own 16% hill in the PUT.com 4wd event, do you really believe they could not get the Ford into 4wd. If they were really using a broken truck, what level of credibility is demonstrated here. There is also no mention of which Ford they were testing. Seeing that the Chevy guy mentions "class leading horsepower", the Ford is not likely to be the 400/800 version. Unless one of you Chevy guys can find some proof they ran the new powered Ford, this is another meaningless comparison. I just went to the Motoring TV website and there is no information available on the Ford F350. It is like they were never there. Facts are facts, boys. Unless there is some relevant and factual information posted, this will be my only comment. Insult me all you want...it did not work the last time either...
