I have a 2009 FX4 and have recently encountered a nusance item. After my last oil change I began to recieve oil change needed message in my info center display after less than 2000 miles on the oil change. I questioned my dealer service advisor on it and got the dumb look. Anyone know the procedure to reset this? Can you vary the length of the change interval?
Usually your owners manual will give the procedure to reset the Oil Change indication,.If you dont have one I would try "Googling" it,and youll probably find the answer.
Concerning changing the interval,I dont think you can.
The wifes 02 Impala(yeah...I know, its a cheby) is factory set at 7500 miles.I change the oil every 3000....It is indeed a nuisance, but according to the FSM for it,the interval is "set in stone"
There is a way you can change the interval. IIRC it is set for 7500 miles, but you can do a % of that in the menu for less miles. I believe this procedure is in the owners manual as well. I had the same issue with my one free oil change from the dealership, they didn't reset the interval. You would think they would be on top of something like that.
An oil change is required whenever indicated by the message center and
according to the recommended maintenance schedule. USE ONLY
RECOMMENDED ENGINE OILS.
To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
(approximately 7,500 miles [12,000 km] or six months) perform the
following:
1. Press and release the SETUP
control to display “OIL LIFE XXX%
HOLD RESET = NEW”.
2. Press and hold the RESET
control for two seconds and release.
Oil life is set to 100% and “OIL LIFE
SET TO 100%” is displayed.
Note:
To change oil life 100% miles value from 7,500 miles (12,000 km)
or six months to another value, proceed to Step 3.
3. Once “OIL LIFE SET TO XXX%” is displayed, release and press the
RESET control switch to change the Oil Life Start Value. Each release
and press will reduce the value by 10%.
