How do you....
reset the engine oil life meter? I could do it on my dad's d/max and was wondering if it was possible for me to reset it or does the dealer have to do it?

You can (for 09s anyway). If you can for MY 2006, it's described in your Owner's manual.

It's between the bed and the frame on either the left or right side.
Look at your rear wheels. It's on the same side as the wheel that sticks out the most.
