I did the 50c mod and did some re-tqin under the valve covers. Can't believe how much it quieted down my engine. This should be a regular 100k or 150k maint. Outstanding!!
ok, so I'm out there lying on the engine tryin to get the 9 pin connector out. HOW! I feel like such a dumb-a$$. Tried wriggling, pushing, prying, pulling with nothin! What is the secret here? I found a pic showing to push on the middle "clip" and pry then end off with a screwdriver, but no, that wasn't working either.
Any suggestions are welcome. I'm ready to rip the thing off just to ohm the pins.
You just have to be smarter than the plug Jeremy. You push down on the center part of the connector, then it's a matter of getting it unplugged with the rubber gasket inside the connection. The rubber is meant to keep the corrosion out, but it also keeps the connection tight. If you can't get the screwdriver in there, just press down on the center tab and wiggle the plug back and forth. It will either come out or loosen up enough to get the screwdriver in there. Just be patient with it.
I just did mine two weeks ago and the only thing loose were the injector bolts. Each one was at least a half turn loose. I haven't noticed any less noise?
As far as getting the connector loose I just pushed down on the clip on top and they came right apart. I guess I was just lucky!
Apparently I am not smarter than a fifth grader. I can fly a helicopter but can't unplug the injector-gp connector. Go figure. Seems every time I try something simple this thing throws a monkey at me. I do love a challenge though so I'll be back at it tomorrow and one way or another it will come off. That center portion is dang tight and with those wing tabs just doesn't seem to budge much. I can fit the screwdriver blade in the end to twist but can't seem to wiggle it enough to open the connection.
Actually, try to take a tiny flat head and stick it between the clip on the gasket and the tab on the connector that has the tabs that grab the clip on the gasket. If you look real close, you'll see what grabs what. If you still can't get it, I'll snap some pictures illustrating what I'm talking about.
