I've got a friend that sold his 01 F-250 a few days ago and before he sold it he took the bully dog switch chip off it and is offering to sell it to me, and before I buy the chip from him I just wanted some input as far as whether or not there are any problems with the bully dog switch chips?
Bully dog chips are good but not great. They are a mass marketed chip. If the price is right and your on a budget, then go for it. If you can afford a little more, look at DP Tuner. It is a favorite around this forum. You mcan also look into PHP, swamps and several others.
I agree with Josh.I think you would be happier with a DP or TW chip.Their customer service is great and if something went wrong with the BD I am not sure how that would go.With the other chips they would get you going one way or the other.Good luck
bully dog is OK, Dp is better, now I run PowerHungry's tunes. I've had all 3. Bully Dog is a good "starter chip"

Kind of like training wheels compared to a custom chip. I had a Superchip before I knew any better and once I found this forum, I went with a custom chip. Now I know better.
I would get it if you don't have the supporting mods for a custom chip, like gauges, intake, exhaust and so on.
If you already have the sct tuner why do you want the bully dog? The only real benefit would be easier to change programs. How much is he selling it for. I would just save your money and get a custom chip.
