ok so saw sum bombers talkin bout some tony wildman and the chips he does. So i checked out the website and it seems nice. U can custom tune your chip and for what I wanted was around 400. I’ve never heard of this before though and my step dad has super chip and I don’t like it so I was wanting bully dog triple dog. Got a friend who had it and he LOVED it. Everyone who has bully dog says it’s the best chip around. And these dudes were saying this TDP 6 pos chip crap was the best. Any of yall got opinions on this? What is better? thanks...
Your on the right track. Tony Wildman, DP-Tuner and several others offer "true custom" tunes for our trucks. All of the off the shelf tooners, such as bully dog, superchips, edge, banks, and so on are canned toons. They are a one size fits all. Where DP and TW are tailor made tunes for YOUR truck and your mods.
Tony builds some great tunes. and offers free reburns or upgrades if I recall. There are several good tuners around. Bill at PowerHungry Performance has been tuning since 1997. Tony is good. Lot of people like Jody at DP.My guess is that those people that run Bully Dog have never run anything else, so how do they know what to compare to?
I have owned a Bully dog, it was Ok, I've owned a DP it was better, I now have Bills tunes from PHP. best yet. I know I've found my tuner. Bill knows his stuff.

well the guys around here go threw chips like its goin ouda style. like i said my step dad has super chip and i really dont like that. have a friend who had edge, quadzilla, diablo and bully dog. he like bully dog the best. another one has banks on his truck and said it was the worst chip he has ever had. seems everyone here like the custom tune ones. im starting to slide that way lol
You will actually get better customer service from the custom tuners. It helps when you call and get to speak with the person who is actually writing the tunes. There are several great tuners and I don't think you can go wrong no matter which one you choose.
Well you can buy the bully dog but if you have an auto tranny be prepared for a new one because bd tunes get a little aggressive. Get some custom tunes and you won't regret it. You could also get some trial tunes from a custom tuner and try them out
Yes I've heard of TDP. I've even met Tony. As the others have said, get a custom tune for your truck. Don't waste your time or money like your buddies have going through chip after chip trying to find something better. Just jump all the way to better the first time. Besides being able to change tunes while you're driving down the road is a nice feature. Beats the heck out of that superchip set up.
If you get a TDP chip, you will not be disappointed. The good tuners don't have to take out full size adds in every diesel mag and have all those commercials to sell their product.
Of course any time you're talking about adding a real chip, it's wise to upgrade your intake and exhaust, add a set of gauges, and consider a shift kit and tranny cooler to keep things in good working order.

Reason: Merge double post,
Yep -- Tony is a word of mouth kind of tuner. I've had DP before, and I run Tony's tunes now. I don't regret it one bit. I'm running over 400 rwhp right now with his tunes, and so far, it's holding together very nicely...

What were your dino numbers?I was out of town a couple weeks and must have missed the results of your latest run
Haven't been on the dyno yet, Ray. I just know that with 235cc of fuel, I'm over 400. No idea how far yet. Guys running 200cc had to tune down to 400, so I'm sure I'm there.
