Question Driveshaft length?

I have purchased an '86 F150 with 300 cu in 6 cyl with the long box. the previous owner replaced the transmission with a rebuilt C6. Never got around to completed the install, moved and misplaced the driveshaft. I am near a junk yard that has plenty of driveshafts off the vehicles. I just need to know the length I am looking for.

Does anyone know what the driveshaft length is for this vehicle?

Thank You,.

I unfortunately don't have an answer on the driveshaft length, but you do need to also watch the u joint cap size and style as well.

Thank You for pointing this out. I may have to bring the driveshaft back to the junkyard if these don't match. I have discussed this witht he junk yard manager and he is agreeable.

Thanks again.

Just watch out with junkyard drive shafts. I been looking for one for some time. Most junkyard loader operators will pick up a truck and usually hits the rear drive shaft bending it!

SO LOOK OVER any junkyard drive shaft really good to see if it was hit by a loader fork. Even a small ding will knock the balance out of driveshaft at highway speeds! I've been there....

As for finding the right lenght, I would measure from the tranny to drive shaft and then start looking. Hopefully you find one.

I am located just outside Detroit Mich. and there are a number of local reputable places that can make a driveshaft for approx. $200. I sounds like going the junk yard route has too many risks and I could very well wind up having one made anyway.

Thank You to all who responded.
