Your truck is not wired for a gray one. All the auto part stores (and some Ford dealers) computers are wrong and they will try to sell you a gray one.
The Gray one will set codes in your computer and not run as well.
The Black one is a CCD ICM and a Gray one is a push start ICM.
All 1994 and newer F-series trucks take the Black one.
The Gray one uses a start wire from the starter relay and your truck does not have one running to the ICM. With the Gray ICM Ignition system the IDM to the computer comes from the Ignition Coil Tach (-) side through a resister.
The Black ICM makes the IDM and sends it to the computer.
You can get a Black ICM at any auto parts store just tell them you have a 1995 Mustang.

Here's a quick question than, IF I'm timming my pickup, the timming mark hits smooth and in the same spot with the spout conector out, but put the spout conector in, it jumps around a bit. (if I explained that good enough) Would that be the Ignition Module cousing problems?
Well the Distrubutor is new, as is all the igntion componets(plugs, wires, cap, rotor.)(less than 4,000 miles an total rebuild) except the module on the fender.
I had the grey PCM troubles with my 96 F-150. I replaced everything including the brain and sensors. I then found information on the internet regarding the parts book being wrong. After spending all that money, what was another 60 bucks. Switched to the black one and bingo dash light went bye bye. I hope this helps somebody else.
