I posted about a month ago about this truck being low on power. Some of you may remember...
I unhooked the wastegate today (the red "vacuum" line) and it seemed to run somewhat better.
I then hooked the line to the air compressor in my shop and set the regulator to 10 psi. The wastgate is opening at less than 10 psi. Does this sound like the problem?
If so, Where can I get the wastegate solonoid? Ford says there is no part # for it

I thought the wastegate starts opening earlier? Some like the Big Head unit because it is mechanical and based off the exhaust pressure for opening. I like the Boostvalve myself since it only sends pressure to open the wastegate when it reaches set pressure that moves a check ball.
Thanks, It is running much better (way more power) now that I unhooked the WG. Customer said it pulls his empty gooseneck trailer better than it did driving just the truck before I uhooked the WG.
So there is no risk of doing any damage to the engine by unhooking the waste-gate actuator and plugging the red hose. I guess by doing this the actuator is always closed no matter what....correct?
