I'm disassembling my new (old) '66 LWB CC. Have successfully removed the heater, but can't figure out how to remove the heater fan switch/defrost cable from the dash. Are you supposed to push in a pin or something at the base of the ****? What's the best tool to remove the bezel? Also, I'm trying to remove the stainless side trim. Have run into problems accessing the aft most bed nuts on both sides. Have tried to get a quarter inch drive, 3/8 deep socket or an offset box wrench in there but I just can't get a hold of it. Any suggestions? The front of the cab pieces weren't any picnic either. Apparently you need to reinstall them after paint but before the heater goes back in? Any help gratefully accepted. Thanks.
On the **** try taking a small straight screwdriver and put the blade in the slot on the bottom of the ****. Push the spring clip inside the **** toward dash while pulling the **** off. The nut for the heater control you can take small ended needle nose pliers one in each slot and twist off or take a large straight screwdriver and place one side of the blade on the shaft and the other in the slot and carefully twist it off. There is a tool for this but never seen it. As far as the 3/8 nuts, I use a 6 point socket cause their kinda rounded anyway. hope this helps
The only two ***** I know of with allen head set screws on the 65-66 f-100 are the Heat &Temp ***** on the optional deluxe heater on bottom of dash.
The following is the only **** listed for the blower switch in the 1957/63 & 1964/72 truck parts catalogs and is identical to what my bought new in March 1965 F100 came with (I sold the truck 11/2009).
The type of **** you are describing was used on 1973/79 F100/350's and myriad passenger cars.
C1TF17513A .. ****-Use with set screw / 1961/66: Windshield Wiper Switch, 1961/66 Heater Blower Switch / 1966 Emergency Flasher Switch.
C1TF18534A .. Heat Control ****-Use w/set screw / Deluxe Fresh Air Heater Cable-1961/66 (cable attaches to heater water valve).
C1TF18534B .. Temperature Control ****-Use w/set screw / Deluxe Fresh Air Heater Cable-1961/66 (cable attaches to heater plenum chamber).
All these *****, cables, the set screws and the Deluxe Fresh Air heater itself are shown here: 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 1984, Page 9.
After Bill told me to take off the taillights (duh!!) the last nuts came off easily. The heater fan switch **** is proving to be more difficult. Noting that the wiper switch **** is supposed to be the same, I had a go at that and got it off. It has a D shaped spring clip inside the **** that lays in a groove in the switch stem when installed. The fan motor switch has the same so it is only a matter of time before I get it apart. Sure wish it had the setscrews that ND said should be there. Anyway, thanks for your help, guys.

SuperSabre, try sliding your small screwdriver from the small end of the slot towards the big white end as you pull the **** off. I know they can be a 2#$@ to get off. Sometimes the clip is angled the other way.
