I pulled the truck underneath the car port. When I tried to pull back out I quickly became aware that I am now stuck.
When I try to pull out of the car port the rear end tries to slide to the left and into the metal frame work. Oh poop.
Not a big deal (since I don't have to go anywhere for the moment), but annoying.
Your locker has a lot to do with the trucks rear sliding to the side. That's one of the downsides to locker rears on the street. They have a tendancy to want to step out on a slick surface.
i have the blizzaks on the bmw and it drives better than my 4wd truck... although i bet my truck could make it up a steeper snowy hill and go through large amounts of snow. the car does "drive" better and i feel much more confident in the car.

We obviously do not lead the same lifestyles. There's not always time to fire up the snowblower and/or shovel. If you've ever been on-call and awoken at 3am and called out into the blizzard you'll see that the ability to blast out of the driveway is a genuine need.

Not to be a jerk.
I know where you are comming from.. I use to drive a 83 LTD everyday, But I sold it to buy my 94 F150 4x4, Mainly because I've cleaned my drive way, went to work, came home, and found it impossable to even make it to my driveway. The county road from the hwy to my driveway gets drifts across it that are 4-5 ft deep many times..
In that situation a 4x4 is a need not a want. Thats another reason I put 305s on it, soon to be 325/80R16s

I was going to make that very same point! How many times does one have to come home 4-6 hours into a storm only to find your driveway packed with 3 feet of packed snow and ice?
BTW, that leaves me with two options: 1) to park my truck in a (narrowed) street with snow plows coming by and take the 45 minutes to shovel/snowblow my way in or 2) just blast my way in and get off the street.
A 4x4 is a want for me, because I rent, and I'm the inconsiderate jerk that wants to smash through the three foot snow/sand/salt/ice pile at the top of my driveway before the plow guy comes to do the driveway.
Yeah, I know, I could shovel and all that junk, but that would cut into my time on the 'net.

I know which one I do.
exactly..
I was at the Familys house over the holiday last year, came home(pulling a car trailer), found nothing but snow.. I unhooked the trailer just off the street, and worked my way into the yard. when I got to the house, I had snow packed half way up my grill. Than when I went to go get the tractor to clean the driveway so I could get the trailer to the house, I found this.
Thats my 27 hp Kubota with a loader on the front and a blower on the back...
Heres how big it is.. Not fun to shovel out the tractor in order to clean the driveway.
Ugh, the 2wd bandwagon is sailing through. It's funny how many people think that they can do so much with their 2wd. "I can do anything a 4wd can!" pft, BS.
