Ok when I had my 95 f250 I had no reverse lights because the plug was non existent to go into the tranny. Now when I swapped the drivetrain out of that one and put it into my 97 f350 I could not find the plug to go to tranny or transfer case. Can any one tell me ( better yet pictures) where to find the plug. Or can I just make one and tap into the wire harness running along the frame. I cannot see for crap backing this thing up at night.
Auto or 5-speed? (Hint: kinda handy to know that at the git-go....)
I can tell you this; it's not on the t-case. On the 5-speeds, it's on the tranny itself. On the automatics, I _think_ it's on the selector switch on the shifter.
I can also tell you, the reverse lights aren't for illumination. You won't see much at all with their light. Options:
* If you have a 7-way trailer light connector, there's a light that plugs right into it, with a single 50W H3 bulb, that feeds off the reverse light pin on the connector.
* If you don't have the connector, you can buy a pair of cheapo H3 driving lamps (there's even a pair that comes with brackets that attach to a receiver hitch), and wire them in by relay to the reverse light circuit. DON'T wire it directly to the reverse light wiring for power; use the reverse light circuit as a trigger for a relay, and run the main power directly from a fused source up front on its own wire if possible.
Its a 5 speed. both trucks were 5 speeds, and when we did the swap there was no connector to be found. Part of the problem was the previous owner put in a Perkins I6 with a cab over tranny.
