My airbag light started flashing so I connected my computer to the truck and ran the OBD II software I have but it only shows powertrain issues, nothing about the airbag light flashing. Searching the forum, I've read that the module can be replaced by myself but I don't have a clue where to start.
Does anybody know where I can get the Service Manual (not the Chiltons or Haynes) for the 02 Ranger? Barring that, is there any place else I can find instructions on replacing the airbag module? There's a couple of junkyards around here, but I haven't searched for the module yet.
You don't need a scanner to identify airbag system codes.
During normal operation, the air bag lamp indicator will be lit continuously for 6 seconds after the ignition switch is placed in the RUN position.
If there is a problem in the system, the lamp will start blinking out two-digit codes (count the blinks to get the first number, wait for a pause, then count again for the second number).

Damn, I didn't know that...thanks for the info!
I don't suppose you know where I can get my hands on a Factory Service Manual???
A common problem that illuminates airbag light is the bulb going out in switch panel under dash that turns the passenger airbag on/off. Check to make sure your's lights.
Well, the airbag light was showing a 47 code. Undid the connector under the passenger seat, cleaned it and hooked it back up and presto, no more airbag light! This place rocks!
