Where is the normal place to put a pyro? My truck has a banks kit and mine is mounted on the exhaust right behind the turbo. The reason I'm asking is because of the temp. I've always heard to keep the EGT below 1200, but is there going to be a difference between right out of the manifold and all the way by the turbo?

Yes. It's recommended to always put the probe in the driverside manifold 8-10 inches after the head.
This has been discussed a lot in the past, and there are lots of opinions on where is best, and reasons for each. If you have getting the temp AFTER the turbo, your max is a lot less since the exhaust gases have cooled off by then.
The recommended spot, IMO, is as close as possible to the exhaust valve, we are trying to keep the pistons from melting after all. Mine is in the drivers side exhaust manifold right by the last cylinder. Other people have posted pictures
i put the bung for mine right after the manifold flange because i didnt want to drill into the exhaust manifold. I would say if i saw 1100 or so i would be pushing the limits but for the exhaust to cool over 100 degrees in six inches might be a stretch. So i just do my best to keep it in the normal range and not top 1000, even though i have never seen 1000. One day ill hook up to something i am sure that will press the limits. But with my exhaust and intake, the ol truck stays nice and cool.
