If it is indeed a 1976 and it has a 400, then no, it is not original to the truck. there is a vin decoder here that will give that info or you can post the vin and someone will help, to find out what the truck originally came with.

the 400 V8 was first available in the F series trucks in 1977 so the engine isn't original to the truck.
The fourth character of the VIN is the engine code. In '76 if the letter is "B" it had the 300 straight six, G is for the 302 V8, Y it had a 360, H means it had a 390, J is the 460.
