Schaeffer or Amsoil
I would stick with the Amsoil or give the LE 8854 a shot if you're into the "gourmet" oils.

CJ-4 and CK-4 oils can and some do have an API certification of CJ-4/SN or CK-4/SN. Those are the oils you DO NOT want to use in your diesel truck. Organizations like the API that certify oils with a SN rating have guaranteed a maximum of 800 ppm of ZDDP/ZDTP in that oil. You can find some oil elemental analysis information at the PQIA website, but not everything is there.
Below is a recent picture that I created from two other FTE'rs posting the back of the bottle of the oil they purchased. See the SN on the right and not on the left? SN is NOT what you want for your 20 year old 7.3L.
You may be able to find some left over stock with an API rating of CJ-4/SM, which is good and OK oil to use. Clearly this is a API certification before SN and before the ZDDP/ZDTP limitations were as strict as they are now.
So, if you see someone bragging about scoring some CJ-4 or CK-4 oil for cheap or saying they found "the good stuff", let them know that the details count. This is not to say that if someone runs an SN oil in their truck it will explode and die a fiery ball. Not at all... The API SN certification only means that the oil is not as good for the 7.3L as it could be and the owner may want to select another brew or formula for long term use.
I only recently learned this and it caused me to reexamine the oil I had selected for each of my vehicles. Going forward, I will be more informed and educated on what I am looking at and for.
