I know this is a noob kind of question, but what's the nominal tire size I can go with on a 2000 F250 SD 5.4? It's bone stock (minus swaybars) and I want to stick with the factory rims. I need a wider track and something a little bit taller since the truck spends 90% of its life in fields and on the trail. It sometimes sees full-lock steering if that makes a difference. If I need to I can live with wheel spacers since it doesn't really get driven on public roads at all. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
305s will mount on the stock wheels and give you what you are looking for - taller tire and wider profile. They are pretty much 33x12.50s. No clearance problems. I had 3 sets, all different brands, and no problems with tire rub, etc..
Yepper - no problems. I was too sorry to look up exact tire size info, but sure you get the picture. I believe they were 305/70-R16's as I recall. I put a 4' lift on recently and went up to 315's with same specs- just a 2 inch taller tire.
Good to know. I was actually about to buy a set of 285/75R16 before I posted the question but if I can get away with the 305's that's even better. Thanks again.
I think my brother ran both sizes - 305/70/16 and 285/75/16 on his truck. He said there was more clearance with the 305's because of the smaller sidewall. This was on a Chevy, but I posted it for a size comparisson...
