My 81 dash cluster bezel does not have the blue bright light indicator, but has the black one with blue lettering, as the 82 thru 86s have. Perhaps this was a revision during the 1981 model year. My truck was built on April 24, 1981.
It's also possible that you have a 1982-1986 type in your truck now.
There were a quite a few revisions during 1981 though.
Judging by the history of the truck, it is most likely original.The truck was purchased by a school, the custodian bought it from them, and I am the third owner.
