I'm looking at a couple used Excursions, the front runner is a 2002 XLT with 7.3L, carfax looks good, one owner always in WV, but would like to know if there were any Gremlins early on, etc... Can someone check it out for me, reply here or email to: gandjphillips@yahoo.com
Also, since I'm here, my backup plan is a gas V10, but super clean and low miles... would like to know about this one as well, as may end up making both offers in one day:
just thought I'd bump this up in case anyone can help asap...getting ready to call in an order on the 2002 and would feel better about it with some background info.
If the carfax looks clean and you like them both i'll say that I've had no issues so far with my 2000 or 20001 7.3 engine (108k & 150k miles) Bought both.
Put 35k so far on the 2001 and had to replace an alternator but otherwise it has been good.
PPL here like the V10 who go for a later Models. Sucks gas, has power, and if its sharp, clean and low miles (and has the extra's you want) then its a good deal also if the price is right.
Your call really Hemi Guy = Great V10 info guru from his posts so maybe a PM to him might help out on that end.
Thanks for your input with the 7.3L, You typically only hear great things about that package.
The dilemma here is the 7.3L is in an XLT excursion, and I'm worried about the cloth seats holding up, miss some of the limited features. However, it is a good deal at $16,900 with 105K. The V10 is 2003, eddie bauer white and tan, my favorite color combination out there, and only has 61K miles. Except for some leather cracking on the drivers seat, it's neat as a pin, and the low miles are attractive. If I end up with a v10 my goal would be to add a commuter car in the next year so I can leave it parked about 50% of the time!
