Well after over a year and half of debating i finally bought a Excursion with a 7.3. I have waiting a long time and seems next week when i pick it up i will finally have my hands on one. Does anybody have any good advice for things to check and possible issues to look for? So far the only thing i can find wrong is the overhead display isnt working? The tranny has already been rebuilt, ball joints and front wheel bearing assy replaced and new alternator. It has 170,000 on it and i hope to get many more enjoyable miles out of it. Thanks for any input and i am sure i will be looking into this forum often.
Congrats on the new to you Ex. If you do a search I think you will find that the overhead display can be repaired. I'm sure others more knowledgeable will chime in here. Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the link on the overhead display. Would have never thought the circuits could come lose. As for the mods, Its bone stock. The eprson who owned it had the trans rebuilt at 130,000 miles so that should be good for a while. He had a trans temp and boost gauge installed. But thats it. I like it stock so i can do it up the way i want. Suspension looks all stock but it does appear it may have a leveling kit or something maybe. Just looks to sit a little above normal to me. Once i get some picture i will post them. Thanks again for everyones help. Now to figure out the type of oil and filter to use and also do all the normal once over when you get a new/used vehicle,

Specific Excursion related mods/problems/quirks notwithstanding, I would go to the 7.3L forum and start lurking and reading about the different tweaks, upgrades, mods, and maintenance items specific to your engine.
You'll find all the info you'll need here for interior, suspension, and exterior Excursion specific questions, while the 7.3L forum will answer all your engine/transmission related questions.
