Another Power Window Not Working Thread
Quick question -
Where is the power window control 'box'?
Long story-
Ever since I bought my truck a year ago, the passenger window has had issues going back up. At first, if I worked the drivers door switch long enough, it would go up. Then, it got to the point where I had to use the switch on the passenger door to get it to go up. It got to the point where I just didn't put it down for fear it wouldn't go back up.
Of course, now that it's winter, the wife forgot about it and put it down, and it got stuck there. No amount of switch jiggling on either side got it to go back up. I tore the door panel apart, and checked the voltage on the plug going to the motor. 11.94 down, -11.94 up. Figured the motor must be toast, so I ordered a new one.
Finally got around to putting it in today, went to test it, and same thing. Rechecked voltages, had the same results. Put the meter on it with motor hooked up, and down it read 10.75, up it read 0.92. Obviously, I can get enough voltage but not in sufficient amps.
I had the exact same issue with my head lights when I bought the truck. Everything checked fine with a meter until I put a load on the system, then it disappeared. I ended up tracing it back and found a wire that was crimped on the insulation more than bare wire. Put a new end on it, and they have worked perfectly ever since. I figure I have the same situation with this. I just need to know where to look for the power supply to the window motor, or where it could be likely that it is pinched, or any other point where it could be broken?
