Ashtray mounting location

Odd request here, but hoping one of the members with a '46-'47 Mercury truck might know. In '46 the ashtray was an option, I managed to find the original ashtray and mounting bracket and original **** from a '46, but need to know the mounting location. From the Mercury brochures, it looks to be on pass side, under the left side of glove box door. Can anybody confirm this location?

Its not an odd question just happen to have a pic here. This is from my 47 1/2 Ton which came with this accessory, along with Cigar Lighter Rear Sliding Window with the 1947 Fod Bug on Glass.
This is an original untouched Truck right from Ford of Canada. If I can help you with anything else just ask and if I can I will. By the way this is a pic taken with a digital camera so you can enlarge it to a good size.

5 Star, that is exactly what I thought. My question is, does the edge of the ashtray line up to the end of the rib on the bottom of the dash or does the **** line up the the edge of the glove box door? While my truck isn't going to be 100% original I want to try to get the part mounted in as close to the original location as possible.

PS, slightly off topic, but how do you like the sliding rear window? Mac's lists a kit to install the original style sliding window in place of the solid glass, I was considering this for my truck.

I'll try to get out to the garage tomorrow and get an exact measurement of the ash tray location for you.

As for the sliding rear window, just love it, gives you more airflow through the cab on hot summer days.

I don't know for sure on the fact of this but I have heard that the cab had a special frame work for the slider. Once again I'm not certain on this as I haven't had the panel off. This truck has the original interior in it as well and I don't want to disturb it.

You migh have noticed that the heater was not in it, as I had it repaired and put it back in after the pic was taken. Truck also has the dual wipers, sun visors, dual factory mirrors, it was stored inside for 35 years and sold to me for storage.

I'll check on the ash tray tomorrow.

Ash Tray mount

Okay here are the measurements.

From the right side kick panel to right side of Ash Tray is 13 5/8 inches

From the rolled out moulding above at the far left of it to, the left side of Ash Tray is 1/2 inch.

If this seems a little confusing let me know, and I will try and simplify it a little.

That was just perfect. So it sounds like the right hand mounting bolt is the same bolt that the glove box liner is held in with on the bottom of the dash.

Thanks 5 Star, this was exactly the info I needed.

Thats great and all you have to do is screw that to the underside of dash and if the measurements add up to what I sent you then its a go.

That's exactly what I did, fits just perfect. Just got to take it off again to paint the dash and ashtray.
