Fan clutch?

Ive been plowing with my f250 and it never originally had a snow plow prep package. Should i be worried, i heard that the prep package has a different bigger fan inside. is this true?

than fan is the same the clutch is a different part however and the real purpose is to be more agressive because the plow blade blocks airflow while driving

I found one on ebay for $150 in Arizona we use them to enhance cooling and airconditioning output ,, go figure

if your temps are good don't sweat it .. no pun

This article supersedes TSB 05-4-4 to update the vehicle model years.

ISSUE:
Some 2005-2006 F-Super Duty vehicles, that are NOT equipped with the factory snow plow package, may exhibit an engine overheat condition if a snow plow is installed on the vehicle. The condition typically will occur during normal highway driving. This is due to the snow plow blade disrupting airflow to the engine, causing the cooling fan to stop turning or to spin in reverse.

ACTION:
A new clutch fan (only for snow plow applications) may be installed to correct the condition. Cost of the new clutch fan and its installation is the responsibility of the customer. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 303-03 for removal and installation.

NOTE: INSTALLATION OF THIS CLUTCH FAN MAY RESULT IN REDUCED FUEL ECONOMY.

NOTE: FACTORY INSTALLED SNOW PLOW PACKAGE ALSO INCLUDES HEAVIER FRONT SPRINGS, A STEERING DAMPER, AND A 140 AMP GENERATOR.

PART NUMBER PART NAME

Its never overheated, the only time my engine got hot is when i was going too fast on the highway (70mph) and once i saw the needle going up, i let off the gas and it went back to normal. never had a problem again. Is it worth putting the new fan clutch on or not?

If I could only find a way to position the blade enuff as to not block the ambient OAT sensor in the grill making my climate control act whacky.

Do not trust the stock gauge, it's useless. I ran a plow on my truck for years without the snowplow fan clutch. Always drive the truck with the blade turn hard right and don't drive above 60mph with it. If you had gauges(like I do) you'd be suprised at the actual temps you were seeing for ECT and Trans. Temps rise quickly with the plow blocking airflow.

Don't get me started on that. I have a snowmobile that I put ZERO miles on so far
