how do you remove the sockets/bulbs after taking off the lens - do they just twist out? the passenger side does not work 100% of the time, but if I hit on the cover it will light and stay on for a bit. ty.
Just a quarter turn and they pull out....sometimes...They can be quite annoying to get in and out properly. It is as if the bulb swells up and doesn't fit back through the hole after you give it the quarter turn. I even broke a new one putting it back in. I finally took my x-acto knife and made the bulb opening a bit bigger and now they are easy.

You twist and it comes out. Be careful twisting it. That ribbon connector could break if it is stuck to it.

the socket must be stuck, I couldn't get it twisted out by hand just popping off the lens (not trying to remove the whole entire overhead console). only was able to take a quick look at it. will try it out again tomorrow. thanks
Does anyone have or know of steps to resolve the Excursion overhead map light issue??? On my truck the circuit wiring is brittle and no longer works. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
