i have a 2000 ex with the v10
can i take a non pats computer and swap it with the stocker?
i only ask as it is a company truck and we are getting worn out by the dealer every time a employee losses the keys
we also run a few 2003 f250s and they dont have the pats system
any thoughts
You can program your own keys. You have to have 2 keys that are programmed and you can add more using those 2 keys. With any PATS equipped vehicle, keep 3 keys around for this very issue. When someone loses one, you just buy a blank from your dealer or ebay, and go have it cut anywhere local that has a key machine, then program the replacement yourself.

If you have too many people losing keys, try putting just the chip of the key near the steering column. That way, you can use a standard non PATS key to start it since the chip is already near the sensor.
If a key is lost, no big deal. Just cut a regular Ford key without the chip. Lot cheaper than going to the dealer.
The down side to doing this is that it can get stolen if you just turn the ignition lock cylinder. But, since you were going to bypass the PATS system with a non PATS module, it would be the same result.

I was gonna suggest the same thing. Ya beat me to it.
