Lets try this again (I screwed up the first poll.) To keep this as accurate as possible please adhere to these simple rules when voting in the poll. Only hand calculated numbers in non towing/empty weight scenarios should be posted in the poll (passengers and light gear is ok). I know the "lie-o-meter" in many cases is pretty close but I'm going for as accurate as possible. Also please be as accurate as possible when posting the city and/or hwy specific numbers. Certainly post any MPG experiences you have had, whether towing, empty, hand calulated, lie-o-meter, high elevation, whatever. Just keep those numbers in the post and not the poll. Good? Thanks. Lets see what kind of numbers we get over the next couple weeks and see what the real average MPG is for these trucks
I get about 13-14mpg city/mixed and 16mpg freeway going 65~70mph all hand-calculated when not towing and almost empty. Bone stock 3.55 gears on stock 20"s driven with a light foot.
My mpg's seem to be better and more consistent if I use Shell/Chevron fuel vs truck stop /no-name fuel. Regen frequency is more consistent with use of Diesel Kleen too.
My most interesting fuel story. Last summer on an RV trip from ATL up through AR and then north to NE and west to Cody WY then to WA and down the OR coast back across the very northeast CA down to lake Tahoe and east and then south to Colarado Springs and then east to KS, By the time I hit Kansas I was sick of towing through the mountains and the passes where I was getting maybe 7.5 to 8 MPG. I was glad to see I 70 and some flat land. I told wifey "tomorrow we can tickle 10 MPG". So I fill up and hit the interstate into a 35 or 40 mph head wind. I get to salina and turn down I 135. somewhere along there I refuel and log my worst mileage ever, 6.4 MPG. Lots of stuff goes into fuel mileage, especially when towing. Also, the only way the MPG survey has any usefulness is to compare the trucks by type and equipment. For economy a shorty F250 does not compare in any way with a DRW CC.
14-15 city 18-19 hwy at 70-75 from Cincinnati to Florida hand calculated. S&B air intake, sct livewire, dpf cat delete stock muffler. Performance tune. 3.55 gear 4x4 screw.
About 12 city and 14-15 highway empty. Between 7 and 9 pulling my 43' toyhauler. 4.30 gears...can get 16 highway with the GearVendor overdrive
That Gear Vendor sounds like a smart purchase if you drive the truck daily. I couldn't justify the expense as I only drive on RV trips for the most part. I sure don't think I could get 15 hiway unless it was down one of those mountain passes out west.

The GearVender doesn't help much when pulling heavy...the transmission will kick down at the slightest uphill when pulling heavy negating the extra overdrive. It does give you better splits pulling a steep grade though where the transmission has big jumps between gears. What the GV is good for is cruising empty on the highway.
