Fack! That sux. It's got to be something simple. Some gremlin hiding in a wire somewhere. Let us know when you get it figured out. The suspense is killing me.
Hope you find it soon.
I already did that before. If I have the hot wire on the green, that will ensure power to the coil, correct?
I heard that there is supposed to be an intermittent power to the coil instead of constant? I'm not sure.. when we checked it, we had constant power to the coil.. but there was no spark coming from it. Changed the coil, same result. I will try to hotwire it and see what happens.
Oh yeah, and I mentioned awhile back that I had issues with my truck not turning over, so I wired in a push-button start. (Just so you know, the reason it wouldn't start was because of my neutral safety switch.. bad plug.)
So I have it hot wired now, but I noticed the original signal wire is ALWAYS HOT when the key is on. There is no "Start" position. It's basically, if you turn the key on with the original signal wire hooked up, the truck will turn over and not stop trying to turn over unless you turn the key to the "Off" position.
In the interest of getting this fixed as well, you guys think it could be my ignition switch, or is there another cause?
The tfi also has to have power for spark,as well as the coil. I would check for power at the coil and the tfi. If you have power to both then either the coil, or the module/dist has problems, and not the wiring.
Well I had spark before I screwed with the distributor, I will swap the TFI module again, I might have accidentally sort of messed it up in my rage trying to get a socket to fit in the tiny little hole.
I'll post back when I change it out with my spare.

It had never been messed with it until I unbolted it because of ignition switch.
Thinking about it though, I can't remember if it was before or after I unbolted it that I noticed the key thing.
It kinda sounds like that switch is junk. It would almost have to be,that pretty much controls power to the lil wire on the sol. If it shorted could have blown a fusable link somewhere
I need to check out the fusible links, TFI module, and possibly ignition switch.
Been busy with work. Also trying to get my other engine done. Re-assembling it soon, then i'll have some time to work on the truck.
I'll update you guys when I get a chance to work on it again.
