Proper small wire on my coil? There are several wires on my coil. I believe there's a plug with like four wires?
The ignition switch is fairly simple to get to, the steering column is unbolted right now. However, I don't think that's an issue anymore.. With my truck's computer unplugged, it does the EXACT same thing as if it were plugged in. Who thinks the computer could be my issue?
on you coil there is a green wire on one side that is for the tach hook the jumper wire to the other side of the coil not the side with the green wire see if it will start
I do not have a tach in my truck. And I do not know what green wire you are referring to. I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "Hook a jumper wire on the other side of the coil." What exactly am I attaching a jumper wire to? I guess I will walk out to the shop and take a look to see if I can figure out what you guys are referring to.
And no, it is not the magnetic pick up. I replaced it today and there was no change.
sorry missed a page on the pick up but on your coil there are wires going to both sides of it all harneses had the option for tach the wire just loops back into it's self if your truck was not equiped but the jumper wire put one end to the+ side of your bat than hook it to the B side of your coil that will hot wire your coil push your starter button if it starts than your ignition is crap or you have a short in the wiring
Okay guys, I checked out what you guys said.
I jumped the OTHER wire, the one that was not green. (It's white by the way.)
It still does not start.
Does anyone else think my computer theory may be an option? It does the same thing with the ECU plugged in or not plugged in. Fires some, and doesn't start.
to be honest the ecu under the dash really didn't do much in that year pretty mush just controled emission have you had the module checked off the side of the dist?
that year everything workrd off of the coil . your spark, the injectors fire off the pulse frome the pickup coil i have a 88 and the ecu not in it did alot of modsd but still injected
So I put a different computer in it, and it did not start. However I do not know if the computer was any good, not to mention it wasn't the same computer.
My truck. F350 '88 Fuel Injected 460, C6 transmission.
The other truck F250 '89 Fuel Injected 460, AO4D transmission.
So the computer was different for the transmission, and may not have been good. Not saying much, but at least I tried? I also noticed the plugs were wet from gas. Probably from cranking without starting..
Get a wiring diagram for your truck. Trace out the injection system . MSD has a box that you can plug in to monitor you fuel system . let me find my paper work and I will send you numbers
