I recently purchased this F250 and the previous owner claims it got 12-13 MPG. Since I've had it (2 weeks)it's gotten 7.5 MPG. I spoke with Mike at 5 star and he said it should get 12-13 also. The plugs and PVC are original. Any suggestions what I should look for?
I'd start by changing the plugs, plug boots(cop boots) and the air and fuel filters. Make sure you torque the plugs. Search posts for spark plug change and it'll give u the correct torque spec. They need to be torqued to prevent thread damage. The best mpg I ever got was 13.5 freeway when I drove to florida.I Usually get 11 mpg mixed driving. Right now in the cold weather(I'm in michigan) I get between 9 and 10. I also have a lift and bigger tires. Hope this helps!
How many miles? Have you cleaned the MAF. What's your tire pressure? Thought about replacing the O2 sensors if they have 80-100K miles on them? You been easy on the skinny pedal?
I have a 99 250, V10. Just started getting 7-8 mpg, originally was getting 12-13, saw 14 mpg with all freeway driving at 65mph. Changed the plugs, fuel filter, and air filter - no help. It just recently started to sputter every now and then at low rpm at between 40 and 50 mph. I think I have a coil or coils that are starting to fail. Any suggestions?
My friend had 3 coils go bad too. I am not getting a check engine light, are you? I hate to spend the $95 for my local Ford deal to tell me its a coil. I would rather spend that money on the actual coils, probably just going to replace all 10 to avoid future problems.
No engine light. My nephew is a Ford mechanic and I think I'm going to go ***** out and just do a major tune up. If that doesn't work then it becomes a boat anchor!! Lol
Winter mix gasoline is different as well as diesel, although I have never had it impact my mileage more than 1mpg. I am down about 4mpg with an occasional sputter. The people at the dealership won't help with any suggestions either, "just bring it in and we hook it up for $95".

No Poop! I never new they made Gas different in the winter! It seems kinda crazy that the EPA would allow them to make gas so differently, that it is worse for the enviroment than the summer blend! What does RVP have to do with winter?
I thought winter just killed us Diesel folk!
Hope you figure Your trucks out! Sorry for the HiJacking.
