installing power window motor

How difficult is it to change out the power window motor on a 1996 F-150? Are any special tools required? When I remove the door panel, I see plastic covering the interior. Is this reusable or will I have to find new stuff?

Take the old plastic off carefully and re-tape it back on. The window motor itself, you will have to drill two 1/2" holes in diples that are already there to access two of the three motor bolts. They have a 5/16" head on them. After you get the three bolts out, the motor will come right out after you un-hook the wires. Be carefull the window don't fall on your arm while you are inside the door! I usually tape it up with a piece of good old duct tape.

Larry's right on the money. I just changed mine (91 F150) the white plastic is to keep moisture off the motor. If you take a small c-clamp to the window bar it will hold the windshield in place. I also went to the junk yard a found a motor. I couldn't find the brushes that went out on the old one.
