So i had to fill my bronco with water the other night on the hiway cuz it droped all the antifreeze is there a de-icer that i can put in it i dont want to mess any thing up
it dont seem to be froze up when i sqweeze the hoses i can still hear the water moving. i was just wondering if i could use like air brake de-icer or somthing like that
Considering how cold its been here (and if you're in the Mountain Home I'm thinking of), it's been 10 - 15° at night. Any water in there more than likely froze solid, unless it was in a garage.
Hopefully that's wrong.
Even if its not fully frozen, you may have chunks of ice in there which will block the flow.
I don't know of anything you can safely put into the engine to get rid of ice. One thing you can do is to start it up and let it run for a bit. Keep a very close eye on the temperature gauge the whole time. If it starts to overheat, it has ice blockage. Turn it off and let it sit for a while and the heat of the engine will eventually melt any ice. Repeat if necessary.
Then, check for a cracked block/hoses/leaks etc.
Get antifreeze into it immediately and never leave an engine filled with straight water overnight in below freezing temps again. If your block isn't currently frozen, you're lucky.
ya im hoping that there is still a little antifreeze in it i had a 460 once and that happened went out and started it to go to work and blew a head gasket and ya mtn. home id
If it didn't all pour out, you may be lucky, since it would have evenly mixed on the drive home. A perfect mixture of antifreeze can be good to way below zero (between -40° and -60°), so hopefully a weak mixture was enough to hold you over overnight. I know it was around 15° here.
Best of luck.
