I'm having a problem with my '92 Bronco's brakes. Every once in a while the pedal will not depress, and it feels like its jammed. Keeping pressure onit will usually get normal brake pressure and brake acion afte 3-4 secs, but in traffic that can get hairy.
I've replaced the valve on the power booster, the master cylinder, pads, rotors and calipers. Plus a computer check shows no faults. I'm at my wits end. Any thoughts?
Thanks.
did you bleed the system properly. you need to start from the tire farthest away from the power booster and work your way forward making sure that you have gotten all the air out of the lines.
1pump...or someone else....
If master cylinder was not bench bled, do you know the remedy for that? (My braking has been a bit off since my new master cylinder was installed by a little hokie shop-I doubt they bench bled the master cylinder)
A lot of people don't bench bleed, and sometimes they get away with it. And sometimes they don't.
A decent auto parts store will have a bench bleeding kit, consisting of some tubing, some cute little plastic adaptors for the ports on the master cylinder and instructions.
I used to sell them under the Raybestos brand, but anybody should have 'em. Usually less than $10. In some cases, they would come with new (not reman) masters. Good way to avoid a comeback on a "bad" master cyl.
I've seen some mechanics bleed the master on the car without a kit. It works, but it'll squirt fluid all over the place.
