I'm looking for a ceramic coated set of headers for my 89 302. That will bolt up like OEM equipment. What are y'all runnin? I was thinkin about JBA, but they are a little pricey at $550, so I was thinking about maybe Hedmans. Give me some input.
My vote is for the Bassani shorties. Bolt in place of the stock manifolds and require no adaptors or special hardware. Come with graphite and stainless gaskets and don't need donut gaskets on the Y-pipe side. I haven't priced them since I bought mine a year ago so you could be looking at about the same as the JBA's. www.bassani.com they have a dealer search engine at least.
The gibson headers are nice from what I hear and you can get them with the coating for about a hundred less then the jba's.
Flowtech also makes a set that are coated as well. go to the Holley web site and it will direct you . Havent heard to many good things about the headmen other then price. but you pay for what you get.

mainly fit issues, not sealing up verywell. and just poor quality. I went the cheap route buying summit shorties and got lucky with them being a flowtech design. they were 168, which is all I could afford at the time. I will upgrade down the road to a better set when these get some years on them.
I just put ford motorsport headers on mine. They are stainless so if you are looking for a ceramic coating for longevity, they are another option. They fit perfect with no modifications at all. They came with nice 3/8" 12 point header bolts that were easy to work with. The only problem was getting the last bolt in on the passenger side. This is a problem due to space, not the header. I will say that the only increase in power I noticed was at WOT and higher rpm's. They didn't help at cruising speed at all. I still have a stock exhaust on back, so maybe a new cat and 3" exhust will help. FYI I think the gibsons require a new y pipe. That is strictly from photos and reading on this forum, but that is what I have heard.
i put a set of summit headers on mine and they were pacesetters sold as generics. junk.
then i bought some gibsons and put those on and i love them.
yes, i had to get a new y-pipe made. $150 at meineke. i was unable to find a header that allows you to truly keep your stock setup though. your stock ball-flange is for a 2 1/4'' collector. every single aftermarket exhaust is for 2 1/2''. why, i dont know. but none of them will bolt up.
besides, putting a 3'' y pipe on there will help loads with torque if the guy makes it right. all in all with the gibsons i paid $450 plus a weekend and an afternoon for install and pipe making. and i think it was worth it, gas mileage jumped from 11 to 13.5-14.
