do you have the tailgate step? When I looked at the ARE site they did not offer different caps for the tailgates with the step and the ones without (I think the shape is different) while LEER did offer different caps based on whether the truck has the step or not. My last truck had an ARE cap and it was great and did everything I needed. Once Uncle Sam sends me back a bit of my hard earned income I will be shopping....

When you build the cap " at least on the Z" on A.R.E. site they ask if you have the tailgate step. So I would guess something is different.

Yes I have the tailgate step and it is still functional. I did remove the assist bar, since it becomes pretty much useless, and replaced the plastic inner tailgate liner with the one for trucks without the step/bar set up. That way the BedRug lays flat on the inner tailgate.

I don't know what your definition of far is but no, I don't think so. Not at all.
Just look at the photos. The one from the right rear should give you a good idea.
