A buddy was recently having trouble starting his 2005 F350 6.0 Super Duty when cold. He took it to a independent and they told him 6 of his injectors were bad. The mechanic went on to tell him that he was using a after market fuel filter and he really should have been using the Ford OEM filter? Are the filters different? Will using the OEM filter save your injectors? Is it true for all years?
It's really true for the 6 liter diesel!!! Same for the oil filter!!!! Now, do you HAVE to buy them from FORD - NO. OEM OIL filters are made by RACOR. You can also get them from WALMART, name brand is MOTORCRAFT. Or if you have an International dealer nearby, you can get them there....
The Fuel Filters are also avail from International and WalMart: PN's are:
FUEL Filters:
OEM 3C3Z-9N184-CA
Motorcraft FD-4604
IH 1847170C93
I have a 99 7.3. How important are OEM filters for my truck? I have my oil changed at a Chevron fast lube and really cant tell you what filter they put in the fuel filter or the oil filter.
